Roof Top Tent Buying Guide for Wholesale Buyers
This guide is a selection tool, not a sales pitch. Every figure in it comes from the listed catalogue: the fabric specifications of the SRT14E and SRT01E-56, the model tables of the hard shell and soft shell families, and the listed trade terms. Where the catalogue does not publish a figure, this guide says so and tells you to confirm it in your enquiry.
Step 1 — Choose the Shell Type First
Hard shell models carry a rigid ABS, aluminum or fiberglass top. Opening mechanisms are listed per model, not for the family: the ALU101-130 is listed as a popup foldout model and the SFRP-82 as a side-opening model; for the other hard shell models, confirm the opening mechanism of the exact model in your enquiry. In this catalogue they run from the ABS320-130 (listed US$455–469) through aluminum ALU models to the fiberglass Tallsail series (US$761–851) and the side-opening SFRP-82 (US$987–1103). Soft shell models fold out from a fabric travel cover: the SRT series, with listed bands from US$386–556 for the SRT11S up to US$442–586 for the SRT11E. The full side-by-side is on the hard shell vs soft shell comparison page.
Step 2 — Read the Fabric Specification, Not the Marketing Line
The two fully specified soft shell models show what to look for. The SRT14E lists a 420D diamond polyester Oxford rainfly rated waterproof 2500mm, a 420D polyester rip-stop body rated 3000mm, a 680g/1200D PVC travel cover and a 60mm high-density mattress. The SRT01E-56 lists a 420D polyester ripstop canvas body with a 280g polycotton option, taped seams with PU coating, and the same 60mm mattress class. When you compare any supplier's range, ask for this level of line-by-line specification — and confirm it for the exact model you are ordering, because a family-level fabric description is not a per-model guarantee.
Step 3 — Match Capacity to the Vehicle Class
Capacities in this catalogue are listed per model: 2–3 person for the SRT14E and SRT01E-56, 4 person for the SRT11S soft shell model and for the largest listed fiberglass hard shell. The 4 person and 2 person pages group the range by capacity so you can shortlist by the vehicle class your customers drive. Per-model dimensions are not published for most models, and a model name is not a dimension sheet — confirm the packed and open dimensions of your chosen model before you plan retail packaging or freight.
Step 4 — Budget on Listed Bands, Confirm on Quotation
Listed wholesale bands in this catalogue: soft shell roughly US$386–586, ABS hard shell from US$455, aluminum hard shell US$526–925, fiberglass up to US$1,103, vehicle awnings US$68–199. Treat bands as budgeting tools. The SRT01E-56 shows how tier pricing works in practice: US$478 per piece at 1–11 pcs stepping down to US$428 at 80+ pcs. Before payment, confirm the unit price at your quantity, the MOQ for your model (the listed general MOQ is 10 pcs) and the lead time (listed at about one month in peak and off-peak season).
Step 5 — Plan the Accessories With the Tent
Annex rooms are listed as sold separately on the SRT01E-56 and specified at 190cm height on the SRT14E, so price them as separate line items. Awnings are a separate family: the vehicle awning range covers side awnings and 270 degree models that pair with either shell type. If your market is SUV and 4x4 owners, start from the SUV & 4x4 application page.
